We start out with a brief description
of the program and then ask this question, ‘What is the
biggest challenge you have in managing the people who
report to them?’ By the end of the workshop, each
attendee will have a specific, written, action plan
to address their challenges.
We then ask participants to rate
themselves on ten core management competencies. It's
interesting to see if what the team says about
themselves is what everyone else would say. Following
this we ask them to identify their greatest strength and
the areas they would most like to improve. As you know,
people tend to do their best when they feel they are
good at what they are doing. This exercise has helped
many of our clients realign their activities to match their
managers’ strengths.
If you hired an industrial
psychologist to come in and figure all this out,
they would charge you several thousand dollars, take
a week or two to get all the studies done and then
hand you a 72 page report with pie charts. We get
essentially the very same results in just a few
minutes with your management team. The value to
your organization is huge.
The Bullet Proof Manager®
program is a video based, live facilitated training
program. The Management Skills workshop uses
video excerpts and class exercises taken directly
from the regular program.
How to Connect featuring
Nido Qubein
Nido Qubein is the owner of three
successful corporations. He is the past president of the
National Speakers Association, he served on the board of
directors of a $100 Billion Fortune 500 Company, and has
written more than a dozen successful books. He currently
serves as the President of High Point University.
Nido
talks about how to connect better and avoid
resistance when communicating. All the latest research
states that over 70% of the employees that quit their
company don’t actually quit their company … they quit
their boss. The biggest reason is that we as leaders
fail to connect with them. ‘Connecting‘ is one skill
that separates the best leaders and managers from the
rest. Following the video excerpt, we will conduct a
powerful exercise. The exercise helps your managers
remember forever, that many times people have a tendency
to resist when we try to lead them. Nido’s exercise helps us to better understand how important it is to
connect with our internal customers.
Improving Customer Service featuring
Lisa Ford
Lisa, considered by many to be the
number one Customer Service authority in the world
today, will show us how to connect better with our
‘external customers
We all know, that at some point,
someone on our team will make a mistake. Lisa Ford’s
research shows that 10% of our customers will remain
loyal to us and continue on as a client, no matter what.
This leaves 90% of our customers vulnerable to those
mistakes. So the question is not whether a mistake will
happen, the question is whether or not our team knows
how to recover from that mistake.
After Lisa Ford explains ‘The Six
Steps to Recovering Customer Loyalty,’ your managers
will leave with a six step system that can be put in
place immediately to solve future customer service
issues.
Involved Recognition featuring
John Hersey
The final session we will conduct for
your team features John Hersey. By the time he was 28
years old, John Hersey was the Senior Vice President of
a one billion dollar bank. Today he is one of the most
sought after consultants in the world on topics such as
Recognition, Productivity and Profitability. For years,
managers have tried to figure out a better, faster, less
expensive way to motivate employees. John Hersey has
come up with the answer to this critical issue – and his
answer is, ‘Involved Recognition.’
Following his excerpt, we are going
to have your managers participate in an exercise that
will dramatically change how they motivate and lead
their people. We will leave your managers with a five
step process for recognizing your employees that
will allow them to provide the positive feedback they
are so desperately seeking
The last thing we do is to have your
managers complete a Personal Action Plan. They will have
several great ideas from this workshop. We want them to
pick one idea. There’s a saying, ‘It is impossible to
chase two rabbits and catch one.’ So we want them to
pick just one idea. Then we have them determine how they
are going to use that idea and when they are going to
start. Next we want them to list three benefits that
using this idea will provide to the company … one is a
non-financial benefit … one is a revenue producing
benefit … and one is a cost savings benefit.
Once they have completed their own
Personal Action Plan, we show them our complete list of
topics and ask for any questions. All of this takes a
little less than three hours.
